Can You Finance a Motorcycle with Bad Credit?

If you are interested in purchasing a motorcycle as your main mode of transportation, it’s likely due to the fact that you are not able to afford to purchase and maintain a car. Motorcycles are an excellent alternative to automobiles as they travel many more miles per gallon, and are overall much less expensive. Motorcycles also make getting around dense urban areas much more convenient.

If you’ve decided to apply to have a motorcycle financed, but you’ve been refused, it’s probably because you have poor credit. The first step in rectifying the situation is to obtain a hard copy of your credit report from the credit bureau, or from one of many credit bureau websites that can immediately display your credit history for a small fee.

It’s not uncommon for people to look at their credit report for the first time and be shocked with what they see. There have been many incidences of identities getting mixed together with others, or undeserving associations being made between you and a partner or even the previous owner of your home. In other words, poor credit can be contagious if you are not diligent in keeping track of the history that is being recorded in your report.

In the event that you have been mistaken for somebody else, or if incorrect information has been recorded in your report, you can dispute it immediately by phone or mail. The institutions responsible for any errors will add notes to your file clarifying any corrections made. Note that unless an incorrect report is severely damaging to the individual’s credit, it is nearly impossible to have any information completely removed. Instead, it will just be amended as stated above.

Do not ignore the possibility that you’ve been refused a motorcycle loan due to errors listed in your credit report. It is only beneficial that you review your history to understand why you were refused, and to make any necessary changes either to the reports or your spending habits right away.
